Class: Many girls are going for
classic strapless and open back dresses this prom season. If you want to stand apart from them, be unique and go for a Red Carpet worthy style. Set yourself apart with a sophisticated long-sleeved dress or an elegant, high neckline.

Royalty: Instead of a dress with a sexy cutout or a form fitting gown, try an ultra full ball gown. There are not many chances for you to play the part of a fairy tale princess, so why not take prom as your opportunity to be the belle of the ball.

Elegance: Instead of the traditional bright colored gowns, try out an elegant color like black, nude or white. A majority of prom goers this season will be in colorful dresses, so opting for a neutral color will help you stand out. Black and white dresses also have the added benefit of being reusable for other events, whereas you would be limited with a brightly colored dress.

Glow: Showcase your glowing skin in a high-low dress. These dresses are great for showing off a pair of dazzling heels or wrap-up gladiators. You’re sure to be the center of attention on the dance floor amongst the other floor length gowns.

Opt for one of these amazing styles this prom season to stand out from the crowd and make a statement!

One of the most difficult things when shopping for a dress is finding a dress that complements your body shape and make us look more feminine and beautiful. Here are some tips for the 5 main body shapes – hour glass, triangle, inverted triangle, square, and oval, that will make your life easier:

“Rectangular” body shape
First of all, you should define your waist so look for more “hourglass” type of dresses. Layer up a dress with a jacket or a cardigan to create dimension. Go bold with the prints and fabrics because you need to “add” to your body shape, not “take away”.

“Inverted Triangle” body shape
You should go for dresses with fuller skirts and avoid tight ones. Avoid puffy sleeves that draw attention to the upper part of your body and go for something sleeveless and tailored to your body. It’s important that the waistline of the dresses is just bellow the bust.

“Triangle” body shape
You need attention in your upper part so go for fitted tops or ones that have embelished necklines. You can substitute them with statement necklesses ot brooches. Go for A-shaped dresses that cover your wide hips but give you some structure in the upper body.

“Hourglass” body shape
This shape needs balance! Wear dresses with V-neck shapped neckline to make your upper part seem more small. Go for vertical stripes and dark colors. If your bust is smaller you can wear ruffled dresses and tops. If you want to draw attention to your curves, wear a peplum style skirt, or a body cone one.

The FIT

The fit of a prom dress is just as important as the style, color, or length. Some dress designs are intended to be worn loosely, but fitted prom dresses are designed to hug the curves and contours of the body.

A dress can completely cover the body from the shoulders to the ankles and have long sleeves, but still be one of the sexiest dresses on the floor because of its fitted design. The natural curves and lines of the body are emphasized in all of the right ways, if the dress is tailored and constructed well.

Who looks great in a sweetheart neckline?

One of the most popular neckline styles on gowns is the sweetheart neckline. Dresses of all styles and sizes have this neckline design, which is typically adorned with sequins or rhinestones. The design can be described of being doubly scalloped to resemble the top part of a heart that accentuates the bosom.

As with all parts of a dress, the type of neckline you wear depends on your body type. The collarbone, neck, and upper chest are all alluring parts of the body. The good thing about the sweetheart style is that it looks good on most girls – especially if you are petite or not well endowed. It can create an illusion of curves.

If you have an especially long neck or large bust, this style might not be ideal for you. It’s best to stick with high necks dress styles.
